Slang words (gírias) [1]
Uma das maiores curiosidades de quem aprende inglês é em relação às gírias utilizadas nos Estados Unidos. Como elas normalmente não são passadas em sala de aula, estamos trazendo algumas das mais utilizadas.
1. In a walk. (é uma coisa muito fácil de conseguir)
Num estralar de dedos.
Ex.: A foreigner can get a ticket downtown in a walk.
Um estrangeiro pode receber uma multa no centro num estralar de dedos.
2. My Bad (um jeito de se desculpar)
Foi mal!
Ex: -Hey, who forgot to pay the bill? (Quem esqueceu de pagar a conta?)
-Oh, man. My bad! (Bah, cara. Foi mal!)
3. Cheesy (Brega,cafona)
Ex: He´s so cheesy-looking.(Ele tem um visual brega)
4. Rip off (Roubo,facada…quando o preço de algo é muito alto)
Ex:It´s one hundred bucks..What a rip off!(Cem “pila”..Que roubo!)
