Tirar uma soneca (to take a nap)
Férias chegando, tarefas acabando e você ai com cada vez mais tempo para descansar e aproveitar a vida, certo? Apesar de o tempo para fazer nada aumentar durante essa época do ano, nossa vontade de dormir é ainda maior. Foi falando sobre isso que surgiu hoje, em uma das aulas da Wizard Içara, a dúvida: “Como dizer ‘soneca’ em inglês?”. Grande parte dos alunos iniciantes já sabe que TO SLEEP significa DORMIR. No entanto, tirar uma soneca tem um significado um tantinho diferente, sendo apenas um cochilo de pouco tempo. Para esse caso, utiliza-se TO TAKE A NAP. Veja o exemplo:
Mom, I’m so tired… But I still need to study for the test I have tomorrow.
(Mãe, to tão cansado… Mas ainda tenho que estudar para a prova que tenho amanhã)
Why don’t you take a little nap before going to the library?
(Porque você não tira uma sonequinha antes de ir para a biblioteca?)
